The philosophy of your Photographer ~
We need to empower our thinking and we need to overcome our own negativity.
We need to counsel ourselves every day and make sound decisions for our soul.
Women are caretakers for everyone else in life; we rarely tend to ourselves first. However, we need to take care of ourselves first and foremost so that we are ready and prepared to be the mentor that others need.
There are different methods of healthy counseling including, but not limited to, professional counseling, yoga, meditating, being with supportive friends and family, exercising, and yes.... even doing a boudoir shoot!
Here are some common questions:
Will I be nervous about doing it? Likely.
Is it probably going outside of my comfort zone? Perhaps.
Will I be afraid to see the images and wonder if I can "pull" this off? Possibly.
Am I afraid of what people may think if they find out that I did a boudoir shoot? Maybe.
Now, let's ask some positive questions:
Will I feel more accomplished after the shoot? Absolutely.
Is this a valid method to express my inner self? Absolutely.
Will I hear affirmations from myself as well as my photographer during the shoot? Absolutely.
Will it be fun? Yes!
Has your photographer ever done a boudoir shoot? Yes!
People are usually surprised at how much fun they have at these sessions. Yes, they may be nervous prior to the shoot, but they tend to loosen up, have fun, laugh, and even come up with their own poses!
A session is a very safe space. A session is about two women getting together to work towards a common goal: to use this time to feel like a sexy goddess and capture that on the camera! This is a time of team work: the more we put into it, the more we are going to get out of it. This is a time for you to push the boundaries of your comfort zone which in turn will allow you growth and to embrace yourself even more. You will walk away with pride, joy, and a sense of accomplishment. You can do it!
I respect your privacy. You get to choose who sees your images. The fact that you have control over who knows that you have done a photo shoot brings us to the next topic - what if others find out that you did a boudoir shoot? In my experience, most people are impressed that the model "had the guts" do move forward with such a bold shoot. A lot of people say, "I couldn't do it! I am too self-conscience!" You are viewed as being brave and can set the tone for others to not be so intimated. This could be your chance to be a positive influence for those who need that gentle nudge to not be so self-condemning.
I was a bit nervous at my own shoot, but I figured - if I wanted it, I had to do it. I had to dive in, breathe deeply, conquer my insecurities and JUST DO THE DAMN THING! I was so glad that I did! I loved my images so much that I had some printed and framed and they are in my bedroom displayed as works of art. And that is another thing - YOU ARE ART.
There is a reason that you have considered doing a boudoir shoot. Trust your gut instinct and JUST DO THE DAMN THING!
